Have Sex with the Lights On
If there’s a naked lady in your bed, you want to be able to see her! (Well, unless you’re blindfolded, but that’s a whole other story.) Problem is, if your bare babe is like a lot of women, “lights off” is a prerequisite for any amorous activities.
So how do you find a compromise that lets you ogle in her beauty without making her feel uncomfortable and self-conscious? Lori Berkowitz, an NYC-based photographer who specializes in oudoir shoots, shares her tips for lighting a room that will make her feel as ridiculously sexy as she really is. And, trust us, that benefits both of you.
1. Get on Your Knees
That’s the height from which all good lighting comes. That way, shadows won’t give her panda eyes and shorten her torso, like they do when coming from an overhead lamp. Instead, the shadows from a lamp on the floor will darken the sides of her face and body, making her cheekbones look awesome and her curves more dramatic, Berkowitz says. What woman doesn’t want that?
2. Ignite the Flames
You can’t go wrong with candles, says Berkowtiz. The reason: Not only can you put them at bed level, but they cast soft, warm light, which softens imperfections—not that she has any to begin with. Plus, candles are just inherently sexy. If you’re scared about starting a fire, Berkowitz suggests investing in 20 battery-powered candles. “It’s the surround-sound version of candlelight,” she says. “She’ll feel like she’s in a goddess den.”
3. Take a Trip to Home Depot
All it takes is $5 and a few minutes to install a dimmer on your nightstand’s lamp, Berkowitz says. But that little doodad can pay off huge. Not only can it help you find a middle ground between pitch-black and bright-light, but it can hit a variety of settings so that the more comfortable she gets with seeing her own body in the sack, the more light you can introduce into the room.
